Getting Started with Photo Supreme's Integrated HTTP Server
Prepare the Computer and Catalog
Before enabling access:
- Update Photo Supreme, the operating system, and any reverse-proxy software.
- Back up the catalog, configuration, and original images. Confirm that backups can be restored and are not stored inside the web-server root folder.
- Sign in to the intended Server Edition catalog as its main administrator to perform the initial setup. Check licensing if the HTTP Server control is not available; do not assume any catalog account can start the server.
- Review the catalog accounts that will be allowed to sign in. Use individual, strong passwords and non-administrator accounts for everyday browsing.
- Review each account's permissions and any published categories, portfolios, collections, and shared links. Test access as an ordinary user, not just as the administrator.
- Ensure the computer running Photo Supreme can access its database and the image folders it must serve. A browser user does not need direct access to the database or the image-file shares.
- Give the server a stable LAN address, for example using a router DHCP reservation, or use a stable hostname maintained by your administrator.
Keep the server computer awake while it is serving users. In this embedded setup, closing Photo Supreme, logging out of the desktop session, or stopping the HTTP server interrupts access. Database availability alone is not enough.
