    User Management in Photo Supreme Server

    Windows Active Directory

    In a Windows network environment, you can integrate Active Directory with Photo Supreme Server Edition.

    Note: A minimum of two Photo Supreme Server licenses is required to use Active Directory logins.

    To enable Active Directory support, start Photo Supreme with the -AD parameter. For example, use the following startup command:

    C:\Program Files\IDimager Products\Photo Supreme v2026 PostgreSQL\IDimagerSU.exe -AD

    Make sure to configure your Photo Supreme application deployment script to include this -AD parameter for your Active Directory users.

    Windows User Group configuration

    Tip: Start the Windows User Manager by using the Run command and enter lusrmgr.msc.

    Create a new Windows User Group with the following details:

    Name: PhotoSupreme

    Description: See the settings on the table below.

    Tip: One setting per line; tip: if needed, press Ctrl+Enter for a new line (also see the tip below the table).

    HostName=<<database hostname>>

    Port=<<database port>>

    DataBase=<<database name>>

    SingleSignOn=<<Boolean setting>>

    Example for a PostgreSQL database:

    HostName=192.168.1.128

    Port=5432

    DataBase=photosupreme

    SingleSignOn=True

    HostName

    Enter the network address of the server or computer that has the database (PostgreSQL or SQL Server) installed.

    Port

    Enter the port number of the database instance. Default for PostgreSQL is 5432, and for SQL Server is 1433

    DataBase

    Enter the name of the Photo Supreme database (default is photosupreme)

    SingleSignOn

    Single Sign On allows a user to use the software without having to enter a password. Their Windows login qualifies them to also access Photo Supreme.

    Set this to True or False.

    If omitted, then this will be False.

    All members of the PhotoSupreme group can log in to the software using their Windows passwords. To enable access to Photo Supreme, ensure that Windows users who require it are added as members of this PhotoSupreme group.

    Tip: If you're unable to add separate lines in the description and Ctrl+Enter doesn’t work, you can use a comma-separated format instead. In this case, start with the prefix CSV: (including the colon).

    Example with a CSV configuration string:

    CSV:”HostName=192.168.1.128”,”Port=5432”,”DataBase=photosupreme”,”SingleSignOn=True”

    Note the double quotes wrapping every value.

    Active Directory with User Group configuration

    In Photo Supreme, you can create user groups and set access conditions for each group (for example, a Catalog Browser might have access limited to only the 2024 pictures). When using Active Directory, you can also define Windows User Groups that share the same name as the Photo Supreme User Group but are prefixed with "PhotoSupreme".

    For instance, if you have a Photo Supreme User Group named “Best of 2024,” you should create a corresponding Windows User Group named PhotoSupreme.Best of 2024. Then, add the relevant Windows User as a member of this Windows User Group.

    This user should also belong to the Windows User Group PhotoSupreme (to gain access to Photo Supreme) and PhotoSupreme.Best of 2024 (for the additional authorization restrictions).

    Note: In Photo Supreme, a user can only belong to one User Group at a time.
